mambo rafiki!--

We have arrived and are settling into our life here. This past weekend we celebrated with Nyangusi and Sarah's family (our homestay hosts) and also met with Thompson.
We visited our project site, the school already has one building and toilets constructed! The name of the school is the Hopefully English School and we will be adding the Sing'isi After-School Program to the dynamics that are already in place. Currently, the school serves 50 children, one class in the morning and one in the evening. We are meeting with a mason tomorrow and will be breaking ground on the larger buidling. This building will become the main classroom as the students are very cramped right now. The other building will be the library and supplies center! The new building is being built on a banana field and Thompson( program founder), Janet(his wife) and four children are looking forward to seeing their program grow.

Mourning Dove

I found this bird on the sidewalk in front of the club. When I approached her she walked up into our garden and sat down.
